Healthy Hair, Be Weave It or Not Part I The Weave

It's true that you can grow healthy hair with a weave. Leave a comment, and tell me what you think?

Types of Weaving:

Bonding- This is the worst way your stylist can install your weave. The glue tears the hair off. Just think about it.....it's glue. I recommend no one glue in hair. Maybe quick weaves? Not sure, what do you think?
Tracks- The weave is sewn directly onto the hair, by braiding the hair. When your hair grows this method allows the hair to not look bulky. You can leave some of the hair out in the front to blend in with the weave for a more natural look.
Net or Cap method- The best method. Why? The net covers the braids, and your stylist sews the weave onto the net. The weave is not sewn on the hair, and this allows the hair to grow to it's full potential.
First be advised, when purchasing hair you get what you pay for. Cheap hair is cheap for a reason.
Remi Hair: AKA Virgin hair. This hair can be reused for years with proper care. Remi hair is directly shaved and gathered so all the strands go in the same direction. The hair remains undisturbed so it will last longer. Remi hair may be expenses but it avoids having to keep buying hair. More about Remi hair go to
Maintaining your Weave:
Depending on the type of hair you purchase, treat it like it's your real hair. Make sure it's washed and conditioned. You can even wrap it up at night. You can wash and condition the weave, but not like you do your real hair. I heard of a squish method. The squish method is where you squish shampoo through the hair.
Please do not allow your weave to start looking worn and abused. Since your hair is growing underneath, you need to redo the weave at least every three months. (Hoping you bought the good hair) Also when it becomes loose, you can have your stylist tighten the weave.
Please have your stylist take your weave out if you don't know how. Why cut out hair you worked so hard to grow?
After you take the weave out, make sure you deep condition your hair. Cut your permed hair to the length you want. If you are not transitioning still have the ends clip and keep your hair well moisturized.

  2. Hey Carla, Thanks for asking. I think this is an excellent question because the Grow Protect Solution is made to protect the hair from the glue bonding to the hair. I watched a video as well. My only concern is the amount of heat applied to the hair. The Grow Protect does not mention the hair is protected from the heat that seals the glue to the hair. In this video from Go Protect, you will see how the solution requires heat, and then to apply the glue it must be sealed in by heat.

Hot air, such as the kind that comes from a blowdryer, has the tendency to open the cuticle layers of the hair. The cuticle is composed of tiny overlapping scales that can only be seen under magnification. Cuticle damage is the most common form of hair damage, and in most cases can be remedied by using an acidic conditioner. But conditioners can only do so much. Too much hot air will blow the cuticles so far open that even the best conditioners will fail to make a difference. If the cuticle layers are damaged too often, the hair loses its strength and integrity, and breakage will occur.

Also most gels contain alcohol, which is a no no for your hair. Alcohol drys the hair out causing breakage. Gel is used in some cases to wrap the hair for the weaving process. So adding glue is not the only reason why I wouldn't recommend installing weave this way.

Go go to this link and they will give step by step instructions. They leave out the blow dryer seals the hair and glue together.
